THE GRANT PROCESS

2011 grants were awarded to four outstanding organizations that will continue to implement their breast cancer education, screening and treatment support programs to help fight breast cancer. The programs provide these services to medically underserved women and men from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

The 21st Annual Komen Detroit Race for the Cure will be held Saturday, May 26 2012 at Comerica Park. Thousands will participate to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer, celebrate survivorship and honor those who have lost their battles to breast cancer. We hope to see you there.

The Request for Applications for funds raised from the 2012 Race is here. Applications are due July 2, 2012 at 5 p.m.. Awards will be announced in September.

Komen Detroit community health grants are awarded on the basis of adherence to priorities as listed in the Community Profile, which defines the extent of the breast cancer burden, services, and gaps in the coverage area for the Komen Detroit Race for the CureŽ (Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties)and on the State of Breast Cancer.
