Annual Post-Holiday Party aids Karmanos’ undercompensated care program
Monday, April 29, 2013
Three long-time friends have continued a post-holiday party tradition of supporting the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute’s undercompensated care program, raising more than $3,000 this year and bringing their total contributions to the Institute to more than $25,000.
The Annual Post-Holiday Party fundraiser is coordinated by Peter Kalil of Riverview, Richard Sanchez of Detroit and Thomas Spybrook of Chesterfield and held in January at Z’s Villa in Detroit. The party is a tradition that dates back approximately 35 years. For the last 14 years, the friends have combined the event with a fundraiser in loving memory of Thomas’ late wife Teri Spybrook.
Teri was treated at Karmanos for breast cancer and passed away from the disease in January 1998.
Funds from the event will help assist patients and their families in meeting financial obligations such as paying rent or mortgage, utility bills, groceries, toiletries and other daily living needs.
We truly thank Peter, Richard and Thomas, and their friends and family for everything they do to support our mission of eradicating cancer!
