The Detroit Tigers and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute are teaming up for the second annual Pink Out the Park at the Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals game Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:08 p.m., at Comerica Park. This year’s Pink Out the Park event is sponsored by Delta Air Lines. The event raises awareness of breast cancer, as well as helps raise funds for breast cancer research at the Karmanos Cancer Institute.

More than 200 participants attended the recent 14th Annual Carl's Golfland's $500,000 Odyssey Putt Challenge in Bloomfield Hills to support the Palliative Care Program at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. This one-of-a-kind fundraiser helps generate awareness and support in the community, along with essential funds for Karmanos. An amazing $4,705 was raised from this year’s event!

Karmanos’ NCVAC program receives $75,000 grant from Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation

The National Center for Vermiculite and Asbestos-Related Cancers (NCVAC) at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute has received a $75,000 grant from the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Meso Foundation). The grant will help the center continue its work treating individuals diagnosed with these life-threatening diseases.

Michael Simon, M.D., leader of the Breast Oncology Multidisciplinary Team at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center, will participate in an educational presentation in partnership with Karmanos’ Patient & Community Education Department and the Witness Program of Detroit. Dr. Simon is co-leader of the Witness Program, a faith-based education and outreach program focused on reducing racial disparities in breast cancer by focusing on African-American women.
