Komen Detroit Race for the Cure, locally presented by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. This year’s event is Saturday, May 18, at Comerica Park. Vendor booths open at 7 a.m.; opening ceremony is at 8 a.m.; the Race starts at 9 a.m.; followed by the closing ceremony and awards presentations at 10:30 a.m.
The Lawrence Technological University men’s lacrosse team helped “Stick it to Cancer” and supported the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute’s thoracic medicine research during their recent game against Northwood University. The team raised $450 for Karmanos through proceeds from entry fees and a fastest shot competition.

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center has taken delivery of a new digital X-ray machine in the Dental Oncology Clinic. Staff has been trained on the machine and it is now operational.
