Karmanos Cancer Institute benefits from Christland Missionary Baptist Church walk, special luncheon
Tuesday, October 16, 2012
Members of the Women’s Ministry of the Christland Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit recently laced up their walking shoes to benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. The fruits of their effort resulted in a donation of $2,500 to Karmanos to support cancer education and awareness.
The event, titled, “Walk for the Cure,” took place in June at Shepard’s Park in Oak Park. Ministry members capped off their fundraising efforts with the recent “Faith for the Cure with God’s Power” luncheon, held in early October at the church. The third annual luncheon celebrated the congregation’s cancer survivors.
Fundraising efforts were led by Pastor Allen O. Langford and Pedena Langford, first lady and sister of the congregation.
Karmanos is pleased to team with Christland Missionary Baptist Church and appreciates the members’ hard work in raising funds for the Institute.
