Fun Halloween-themed run raises funds for the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute

More than 3,800 runners broke out costumes and pinned on race numbers for the 2nd annual Wicked Halloween Run recently held at Kellogg Park in Plymouth, which raised money for the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.

The run, which was organized by Kona Running Company, attracted witches, referees, clowns, presidential candidates and other costumed individuals. The event was divided up into a 10K run, a 5K run/walk and a Monster Mile run, which were broken into different starting times -- the Run Wicked Wave Start, the Haunted Wave Start, the Run Thriller Wave Start, and the Run Nightmare Wave Start.

Runners ranged in age from 7 to 72. They also came out to the event for the costume contest that awards prizes in three categories: individual, partners and group.

Kona Running Company also organizes the ShamRock ‘n’ Roll Run in Plymouth and the Solstice Run in Northville, both of which also donate a portion of proceeds to charitable organizations.

Karmanos appreciates the generosity of the Wicked Halloween Run organizers and those who participated in the race!
