The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute has benefitted from a fundraiser by the Renaissance Equestrian Society Inc., which recently presented Institute staff with $500. Fundraising monies were shared between Karmanos and the society itself.
The 2nd Annual Equestrian’s Dream Charity Trail Ride took place on May 19, 2012, on Belle Isle. This annual event is based around horseback riding with a focus on raising funds for the two southeastern Michigan organizations. Horse owners from all around the Midwest rode in the event.
The approximately 5.5 mile trail ride around the island’s parameter allowed riders to experience the rich history and culture of Belle Isle, the largest island park in the United States. From the magnificent marble fountains to the historical museums and conservatory, the event welcomed everyone to combine their passion for horses to raise funds to educate urban youth and to save the lives of individuals battling cancer.
The Karmanos Cancer Institute appreciates the ongoing support of the Renaissance Equestrian Society and looks forward to next year’s event!
