Karmanos Cancer Institute kicks off Partners Night Tailgate Oct. 6

SHOW US YOUR FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM COLORS AND HELP SUPPORT CANCER RESEARCH

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute will celebrate its Partners Night on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Somerset Collection South with a special tailgate party. This is the nineteenth year for Partners, a signature fundraiser to benefit cancer research. This year’s event will honor outstanding philanthropists Julie and Bob Skandalaris who support Karmanos’ exceptional cancer care and innovative research.

The Partners Night Tailgate will kickoff at 7 p.m. Sports Director and Anchor Dan Miller of WJBK FOX 2, the voice of the Detroit Lions, will serve as emcee. Guests can wear their favorite team or game-day apparel while enjoying a fun evening benefiting a great cause. Each guest will receive Marketplace Bucks to redeem for items such as Detroit, Michigan State and University of Michigan t-shirts; goodies from The Detroit Shoppe; and  Sanders products, just to name a few. The evening includes a strolling dinner of favorite game-day foods; a small silent auction with several autographed sports memorabilia, game-day packages, and more;  an exciting raffle for a $5,000 gift card at Somerset Collection; topped with live entertainment and dancing. The Oct. 6 event takes place at Somerset Collection South, 2800 West Big Beaver Rd., in Troy, Mich., 48084. Benefactor tickets are $250 each; and Friend tickets are $175 each. Pre-registration is required. To register contact Lisa Koltunchik at 313-576-8106, email koltuncl@karmanos.org; or visit www.karmanos.org/partners.

Partners is a combination of two great events to benefit Karmanos' advancements in cancer research. In addition to Partners Night, the Partners Golf Classic took place Aug. 27 at Franklin Hills Country Club. Two hundred guests took part in a competitive golf scramble, including lunch and refreshments, silent auction and an awards dinner.

The total raised-to-date for 2012 Partners is more than $830,000. The Oct. 6 Partners Night will continue the celebration to benefit cancer research.

Over the past 18 years, Partners, a group of hands-on volunteers, have raised nearly $13 million through the Partners events to support the Karmanos Cancer Institute’s exceptional state-of-the science research. This year’s Partners events will help support the additional recruitment of highly accomplished cancer scientists, complementing the exceptional cancer research already underway at Karmanos.
