Leon & Lulu kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute
Thursday, October 10, 2013
“Thanks for the Mammaries,” an event hosted by furniture and gift retailer Leon & Lulu in Clawson, and chaired by Brooke and Jason Geisz, members of the Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Society at Karmanos, was held on October 1 to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year, Leon & Lulu hosts a breast cancer awareness and fundraising event to support breast cancer research conducted at Karmanos, and this year marked the store’s fourth year.
This year’s event attracted more than 150 people and raised nearly $5,000, making it the most successful Leon & Lulu event to date! Guests had the chance to shop the store, with 10 percent of sales donated to Karmanos. Guests could also enjoy a slice of pie from Buddy’s Pizza or ice cream from Ray’s Ice Cream, or could purchase a bracelet from Angel of Grace with a percentage of proceeds donated to KCI. There were also games, prizes and live music.
Karmanos is extremely grateful to Leon & Lulu, Brooke and Jason Geisz, and everyone who supported this wonderful event!
