Wednesday, May 08, 2013
The excitement is building as preparations are in full swing for one of the best days in the city of Detroit – the 22nd Annual Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure, locally presented by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. This year’s event is Saturday, May 18, at Comerica Park. Vendor booths open at 7 a.m.; opening ceremony is at 8 a.m.; the Race starts at 9 a.m.; followed by the closing ceremony and awards presentations at 10:30 a.m.
Hundreds of volunteers help make this event possible each year and several of those volunteers were on hand to help with Early Bird Race Team Packet Packup/Pickup on Saturday, May 4. More than 200 teams picked up their Race t-shirts, bibs, team signs and other materials for the May 18 Race.
Several stories and interviews have aired or are in the works from numerous media sponsors.
