The Jane H. Thie Memorial Fund, Inc. raises $14,000 for pancreatic cancer research at Karmanos

The 4th annual Torch Lake Antique and Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous -- Cruising for the Cure, held in 2012, raised approximately $14,000 to benefit pancreatic cancer research at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. The event has contributed $40,500 to the cause since it began. Rick Thie, Diana O’Donnell and Russell Thie of the Jane H. Thie Memorial Fund, Inc. recently presented a check to Philip A. Philip, M.D., Ph.D., leader of the Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Oncology Multidisciplinary Team and Nick Karmanos, senior vice president of Institutional Relations at Karmanos.
Each year, the Jane H. Thie Memorial Fund continues to advance its mission of bringing hope to individuals and their families that are battling pancreatic cancer by funding ground-breaking research in pancreatic oncology at Karmanos. Cruising for the Cure organizers will continue their fundraising at the 5th annual Torch Lake Antique and Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous -- Cruising for the Cure, held July 19-20, 2013 in the Clam River harbor in Bellaire, Mich.
