McDevitt Family Advances Myeloma Research

The 7th Annual Kay McDevitt Golf Memorial was held on October 14 at Wildhorse Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada. More than 130 golfers supported the sold out fundraiser that raised more than $30,000 for myeloma research at the Karmanos Cancer Institute.

The Kay McDevitt Golf Memorial began seven years ago in Adrian, following the loss of wife and mother, Kay McDevitt, to multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is a hematological (blood) cancer that develops in the bone marrow. Pat McDevitt, Kay’s husband, and their children, Todd, Brian and Jennifer, have since continued to work hard to advance myeloma research in her memory. In total, they have raised nearly $200,000 for myeloma research since 2004 and plans are already being made for next year’s event. The 2011 Kay McDevitt Golf Memorial is scheduled for October 13 at the same course.

To further support myeloma research, contributions may be made to the Craig McCarty/Kay McDevitt Fund for Myeloma Research at Karmanos by calling (313) 576-8119.

Individuals can also order premium coffee through a business partnership with iBean Coffee. Ten percent of the order will benefit the Kay McDevitt Fund for myeloma research. Click here to purchase the coffee.

Karmanos thanks the McDevitt family for their continued efforts to fight multiple myeloma and advance research.
