Fresh local strawberries are arriving soon and you will certainly want to enjoy this luscious and nutritious fruit while it is readily available. The sweet flavor makes it an ideal fruit to use as a dessert, put on your cereal or snack on throughout the day. Remember strawberries are very low in calories, 1 1/4 cup of whole berries are just 60 Calories, and high in nutrients, especially Vitamin C. Below is an easy lowfat dessert using strawberries.

Ingredients per serving:

3/4 cup Sliced strawberries

1 piece Angel food cake (1/12 of cake)

1/3 cup Fat-free Cool Whip

Directions:

Purchase (or make) a large circular angel food cake and cut 1/12 of cake for each serving. Wash and slice strawberries. Put strawberries over cake and top with nonfat cool whip.
