FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS |
|
What
if someone wants to register on my team after May 4th (5
p.m.)?
There is no
way to register members on your team after the deadline.
However, the participant can register as an individual
and walk/run with your team, but individual
registrations will not count towards the team
awards.
On
Race day, where are the restrooms located?
Comerica Park restrooms open at 7
a.m. The
majority of the portable toilets are at John R and
Montcalm (west end of lot, between Comerica Park &
St. John's Episcopal Church). A few are also at the 5K
turn at Hancock and John R; and in the Team MEET lot.
Many of our Route Neighbors will also have their
restrooms open.
Will
water be available on the Race route?
Thanks to Absopure and the U.S.
Army, water is available at the 5K halfway point
(Hancock and John R).
After the Race, water will be
available at the Racer finish (Adams and Witherell) and
near the Walker finish (Montcalm between Woodward and
Witherell).
Please recycle. Look for the
recycle bins, courtesy of Whole Foods, throughout the
event area. |

MISSION NEWS |
Postmenopausal
women who take hormone therapy consisting of estrogen
alone may have a somewhat reduced risk of breast cancer.
These findings-- from longer-term follow-up of the
Women's Health Initiative trial of estrogen alone-were
published in the Journal of the American Medical
Association. It should be noted that this report
addressed only estrogen alone; it did not include
combined estrogen plus progestin, which has previously
been linked with an increased risk of breast
cancer. More | | |

| A
NOTE FROM THE TEAMS CHAIRS |
Sometimes we get
so caught up in the preparations for the Race, we need to step
back and remember just why we do this. This
weekend I had a step back moment that I'd like to share with
you.
I read at a
funeral of a woman who died of breast
cancer. I didn't know this woman; I was
asked to read at the funeral by the
pastor. But I knew her family's
grief. It was my family's grief not so long
ago. And while it was hard for me to be
there, I was honored to share their sorrow.
She has left behind so many who love her and will miss
her greatly.

This year over
40,000 families will know this
grief. Remember them as you ask one more
coworker to join your team, or one more neighbor to
donate.
Sandy and I are
so proud of what we will all accomplish this year from our
teams. You are helping to shape a future
where no more families will know this
grief. Thank you for all you do.
