The Jacqueline E. Bayley Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research (JEBF) provides vital support for the pioneering research efforts of the Karmanos gynecologic oncology medical team in developing more effective ovarian cancer screening and early detection methods.
JEBF was created in September 2013 with a grant from the Jacqueline E. Bayley Foundation in memory of Jacqueline Bayley, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer on August 27, 2011, at the age of 34. Shortly following Jackie's diagnosis in 2009, she expressed the dire need for research and thanked her friends for raising funds to support ovarian cancer research. “As I learn more about this disease, I am frightfully concerned about how little research, particularly diagnostic research, is available,” Jackie wrote. “Ovarian cancer is called the silent killer because, as with my case, it comes with few or no symptoms by the time the patient has reached Stage III or IV and the cancer has spread throughout the body, as it did to a number of my organs in my abdomen.”
Jackie’s family, friends and colleagues continue their efforts to create awareness about the need for early detection and, through JEBF, they are providing significant resources to support ovarian cancer research at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Thank you for considering making a gift to the Jacqueline E. Bayley Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research.
