“Pink Out” volleyball game raises $2,500 for breast cancer research at Karmanos Cancer Institute

Carlson High School Marauder’s Volleyball team of Gibraltar, Mich., held their 5th Annual “Pink Out” volleyball game in support of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Each year, the girls’ volleyball team hosts a “Pink Out” game to bring awareness to breast cancer and raise funds in support of breast cancer research conducted at Karmanos. Team members, other students, and fans supported the cause by purchasing treats from a bake sale, raffle tickets and t-shirts. The team raised a remarkable $2,500!
Katy Kaliszewski, Third Party Events coordinator at Karmanos, was invited to the school to accept the check from the team.
“It’s so inspirational to see young people coming together to support this cause,” Kaliszewski said. “It really inspires their peers to get involved in raising attention to this terrible disease and to raise funds to support research into finding a cure for breast cancer.”
Karmanos is grateful for the ongoing support of the Carlson High School volleyball team and looks forward to next year’s event!
