It was all glitz and glamour for a good cause at SAKS BLAST 2012, benefiting the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. More than 300 guests joined event chairs Jennifer and David Fischer for an exciting evening of fashion that raised more than $100,000 for the life-saving cancer programs at Karmanos.

Attendees enjoyed festive music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while they strolled through the newly remodeled shoe department of Saks Fifth Avenue, Somerset Collection – a mirror image of 10022-SHOE at Saks’ flagship store in New York.

A beautiful pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes was raffled off and attendees tried their luck at unlocking boxes placed throughout the store that contained one of 10 pairs of designer shoes. Fashion designer Naeem Khan also made a personal appearance, mingling with guests during the evening and showing off selections from his fall and resort collections during the event’s fashion show.

Saks Fifth Avenue officials said they were thrilled to partner with Karmanos while kicking off their fall fashion season and introducing the new shoe salon and boutiques.

Nick Karmanos, senior vice president of Institutional Relations at Karmanos, said he was equally pleased that Saks opened its doors for the second annual Saks Blast to benefit cancer research.

“The event was truly the place to be to witness the latest and greatest in fashion,” he said. “We are tremendously grateful to Jennifer and David Fischer and the Saks Fifth Avenue staff in Troy for creating a spectacular evening that helped raise critical funds in our mission to eradicate cancer.
