Smoking Cessation

At Karmanos we understand that it is the patient's choice to quit smoking. However, it is a fact that smoking increases the risk for almost every type of cancer, not just lung cancer. Here are a few resources we recommend for healthcare professionals to review to help encourage patients to quit.

Michigan Tobacco Reduction and Prevention

It is the program's mission to reduce and eliminate tobacco-related deaths and diseases in Michigan through leadership, collaboration and education. Learn about health risks, nicotine replacement therapies and other resources available to you and your patients on their website.

  • Refer your patients who are ready to quit to the Michigan Tobacco Quitline using this form.
  • Direct your patients who are ready to quit to 1-800-QUIT-NOW for free counseling and resources.
