Details for Participating in the Environmental Cancer Program

  1. View Webinar Presentation (optional)
  2. Register once with ATSDR online
  3. Access and read appropriate ATSDR training modules for your specialty.
  4. Enroll in and complete corresponding evaluations and posttests. You must complete the module evaluation before you can take the posttests.

Webinar

First, you may wish to view the pre-recorded Webinar Presentation made by Dr. Harbut for the Jackson Physician Alliance PGIP in October 2010. This narrated PowerPoint presentation provides background on the necessity for, and genesis of, the program, as well as an overview of the curriculum and its objectives.

Registration

To participate in this program you must register at the CDC & ATSDR Training and Continuing Education Online webpage to obtain a user ID and password. This is a onetime requirement. All physicians will receive the CME credits, but only PGIP physicians in the suitable specialties are eligible for the Blue Cross honorarium.

ATSDR Educational Modules

Once you have registered, the next step is to access the “core” educational Case Study modules discussing the basics of identifying an environmental exposure in your patient population. To identify the modules pertinent to your specialty, please visit this webpage.

Module Evaluation and Posttests

After reading the educational content of each of the modules required for your specialty, you will need to complete the online course assessment and posttest to receive continuing education credit and acknowledgement of course completion. You can access the appropriate assessments and post-tests on this webpage

When you’ve successfully completed the CME activities for the modules that have them, the ATSDR will notify Karmanos and we will notify BCBSM. BCBSM will semiannually issue monetary honoraria to the Provider Organizations that will, in turn, distribute it to those physicians completing the program by December 31, 2012 –the anticipated cessation of the program. This honorarium will not affect reimbursements paid to you as a result of necessary medical services which you may need to provide as a result of your participation in the program.
