THE GRANT PROCESS

The 2011 grants have been awarded to four outstanding organizations. These organizations will continue to implement their breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs to help fight breast cancer throughout Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

In spring, 2012, we will again host grant-writing workshops for nonprofit organizations interested in applying for funds from the 2012 Komen Detroit Race for the Cure. The workshops will provide instruction, guidance, resources and tools to enhance the quality of an organization's application. These sessions are extremely helpful in strengthening grant proposals.

The 21st Annual Komen Detroit Race for the Cure will be held in the spring 2012 at Comerica Park. Thousands of people will participate to raise awareness and significant funds to fight against breast cancer, celebrate survivorship and honor those who have lost their battles to breast cancer. We hope to see you there.

The Request for Applications for funds raised from the 2012 Race will be published in spring, 2012. There will be changes, but applicants can get a sense of what will be needed by viewing the 2011 application here. Applications will be due in July. Awards will be announced in September.

Komen Detroit community health grants are awarded on the basis of adherence to priorities as listed in the Community Profile, which defines the extent of the breast cancer burden, services, and gaps in the coverage area for the Komen Detroit Race for the CureŽ (Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties)and on the State of Breast Cancer. Click here for an Executive Summary of the Community Profile. Additional information is available at the Komen Detroit Office. Please provide your name, organization, email address, and telephone number in your request.

Grant period is applicable to all grantees unless grantee has an approved amendment. Once published proposal deadline is firm; no extensions are permitted.
