According to a report released by Consumer Reports on Monday, the Karmanos Cancer Center ranked second in patient satisfaction in metro Detroit.

The rankings are based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems or HCAHPS.

Statewide, there were 115 hospitals ranked and Karmanos was ranked 11th overall. Below is how Karmanos fared against other local hospitals:

The rankings are based on the following criteria:

• Communication with doctors and nurses
• Pain control
• How often help was received when needed
• Cleanliness and quietness of rooms
• Information about new medications
• Information about discharge
• Whether the patient would recommend the hospital to family and friends
• The patient's overall rating of their experience
