Stephen Ethier, Ph.D., associate center director of Basic Science and deputy director at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute; and professor, Department of Pathology at Wayne State University School of Medicine, did an interview in conjunction with the CBS News report on Where America Stands on Cancer. The 15-minute interview, which aired on WWJ Newsradio in January, showcases the ongoing progress in the cancer fight.

The in-depth segment highlights the progress made in diagnostic screenings to find cancer in its early stage; progress in molecular diagnosis to create new effective drugs, and radiation therapy to enhance individualized targeted approaches to treat this disease; the importance of mammography and enhanced screening tools; the importance of early detection and the responsibility we each have to assure a healthy life. The interview also highlights Karmanos' world-renown Phase l Program and SoftVue technology, an innovative, cost-effective breast cancer screening device that doesn't involve radiation or breast compression and only takes about a minute per exam.
