What is the Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Planned Giving Society?

The Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Planned Giving Society honors friends who demonstrate their deep commitment to the organization’s legacy and future by including Karmanos Cancer institute in their estate plans. Gifts are recognized during a donor’s lifetime and can be in the form of a charitable bequest through a will or a trust arrangement.

How do I join Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Planned Giving Society?

Tell us you’ve included KCI in your estate plan. There is no minimum gift amount to join and disclosure of the gift amount is not required, but letting us know will help us with our future planning. You may choose to remain anonymous and you will not be listed publicly.

Bequest Language

The following language can be used to designate Karmanos Cancer Institute in your estate plans and will.

I bequeath (the sum of $_____________) or (________% residue of my estate) to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, located at 4100 John R, Detroit, Michigan, 48201.

The bequest language above denotes an unrestricted gift, which allows Karmanos Cancer Institute to apply your financial gift where it is most needed within the Institute. About Dr. Vee – Vainutis K. Vaitkevicius, M.D. 

Dr. Vee is one of Michigan’s leading oncologists, having spent more than fifty years as a physician in the Detroit community. As a leader, scientist, teacher and physician, Dr. Vee is credited as the architect of Detroit’s cancer program and his pioneering work in cancer research led to new global standards of care and treatment. He served as president of the Michigan Cancer Foundation and is the recipient of countless honors and awards for the strides he has made in the fight against cancer. Dr. Vee is beloved by his patients for his compassionate care and he continues to be involved in the Institute and the lives of his patients. He and his wife are members of the Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Society.
