Karmanos receives grants awarded from Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds with the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan

Karmanos Cancer Institute has been awarded a grant from the 2020 Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds with the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan. The award is in the amount of $20,000 and is a portion of the nearly $1.7 million in grants given to 73 organizations through the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds.

This year’s grant is in the caregiver category and will be designated to support a variety of counseling support programs to help caregivers find proven techniques to help ease stress and make important social connections with others in similar situations, thus reducing or providing aid in managing caregiver associated stress.

Karmanos has received grant funding from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds with the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan for the past four years consecutively, beginning in 2017. In total, the Institution has been award $95,000.

About the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation

The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation established the endowed Legacy Funds at the Community Foundation to provide support to issue areas that were important to Mr. Wilson during his lifetime: Caregivers, Design and Access, Youth Sports across the region, and Grosse Pointe Community Assets, to support projects in Ralph’s hometown. Endowment funds are designed to grow over time and provide funding in perpetuity for charitable causes according to the Wilson Foundation’s wishes. Since 2016, over $5.5 million in 234 grants have been awarded to nonprofits in southeast Michigan.
