McLaren Greater Lansing, Digestive Health Institute Partner to Advance, Expand Regional Digestive Health

McLaren Greater Lansing, part of statewide McLaren Health Care, has partnered with Lansing-based Digestive Health Institute (DHI), part of Pinnacle GI Partners. In their shared commitment of providing the community with comprehensive gastrointestinal and colorectal specialty care, the partnership enhances and expands Lansing’s regional access to this elevated level of full-service care.

The largest practice of GI providers in Michigan, Pinnacle GI Partners, DHI will add nine GI providers to McLaren Greater Lansing — six general gastroenterologists and three colorectal surgeons experienced and proficient to provide high-quality, advanced preventive, diagnostic, and treatment of conditions within the gastroenterology and colorectal surgery specialties.

“We are excited about this partnership with DHI and Pinnacle, a premier group of specialists, and see this as our collaborative opportunity to create a center of digestive health excellence, elevating the care available to the community,” said Kirk Ray, McLaren Greater Lansing President and CEO. “With this agreement, we have committed to developing and enhancing this much-needed service and providing patients with the care that embodies our vision of creating access to exceptional health care.”

In addition to the diagnosis, treatment, and chronic disease maintenance of conditions affecting the digestive system, such as Crohn’s disease and irritable bowel syndrome, specialists will also perform endoscopy services, including colonoscopies and screenings for colorectal cancers.

General gastroenterologist Dr. Albert Ross and colorectal surgeon Dr. Daniel Coffey will serve as the medical directors of their respective specialties. Gastroenterologist Dr. Dorian Jones will maintain his position as program director of McLaren Greater Lansing’s gastroenterology fellowship program.

“There is a growing need for specialized colorectal and gastrointestinal services in the Greater Lansing area, and this partnership with McLaren is an essential step in meeting that demand,” said Dr. Albert Ross, gastroenterologist and the program’s medical director. “I am truly grateful to the team at McLaren, and we are collectively excited at the opportunity to work with an organization that shares our vision for excellence and compassionate, patient-centric care.”

In addition to their main offices, DHI providers will perform procedures in the hospital’s endoscopy suite, surgery center, and McLaren Greater Lansing Outpatient Care Center. Additionally, they will see patients at clinical offices in the Izzo Family Medical Center and McLaren Greater Lansing Grand Ledge Clinical Health Center. GI specialists will also provide on-call services to the McLaren Greater Lansing emergency department.

“DHI has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Lansing community, and we are proud to have been privileged to add to its healing and wellness over the years,” said Dr. Daniel Coffey, colorectal surgeon and medical director of colorectal surgery. “With our partnership with McLaren, we are overjoyed to be able to continue that legacy of care in this very same community—one that has trusted us for many years and are honored to serve.”
