Screening Saves Lives: Cancer Screening and Educational Event

Knowledge is Power! Please join the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute for a cancer prevention and screening event on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Karmanos Cancer Institute at the Lawrence and Idell Weisberg Cancer Center.

All attendees and visitors must be 12 or older.

In the fight against cancer, early detection is an important weapon, since cancer is most treatable in its early stages. The following routine screenings will be conveniently available onsite during the event along with genetic counseling, women's wellness, and cancer prevention experts.

  • Breast Cancer Screening - Mammograms
  • Colorectal Cancer Pre-Screening - Colonoscopy
  • Head & Neck Cancer Screening
  • Mobile Health Unit Screenings - Wayne State Health
    • Services offered: blood pressure screening, general health screenings, COVID-19 vaccinations and more.

This community education event will feature the following FREE activities:

  • Healing Arts activities
  • Massage therapy
  • Raffles and giveaways for screening participants
  • Yoga/meditation classes

  • Interested in scheduling a screening at our annual screening event? Call 1-800-KARMANOS in advance to schedule screening(s), and you will automatically be registered to attend the event.

Patient Screenings- Patients get one or more cancer screenings.

  • Breast- Mammograms (screening begins at 8:30 a.m.)
  • Head & Neck Screenings- Oral Screening
  • Colorectal- Colonoscopy Pre-Screening Consults
  • Mobile Health Units Wellness Checks (Provided by Wayne Health outside the main entrance)
    • Flu and HPV Vaccinations
    • Bloodwork Screenings (cholesterol, kidney function, diabetes)
    • Blood Pressure Screening
    • Vital Signs
    • Resource and Referral Information
