Exciting progress continues at Karmanos' Weisberg Cancer Center!

Today marks an important milestone in Karmanos Cancer Institute's Weisberg Cancer Treatment Center expansion project. Most notably, the annex trailers have been removed and new exam rooms are open. We have increased from 14 to 17 exam rooms. Not only are these rooms larger, but they are also brighter and more aesthetically pleasing, as is the rest of the new facility. Additionally, the back-of-house areas have been improved. A new staff locker room, lunchroom and physician workroom are now open, and the medical records area has increased. These changes have been designed to make our staff members more comfortable as they serve our patients with care and efficiency.

What's next?

As the expansion project continues, more areas and improvements will be completed.

In August, we expect to open our new clinic waiting area and expanded patient service representative offices. We will also begin using the new imaging suite, which includes a second mammography unit and expanded ultrasound room within a newly-designed women's corridor and a new procedure room and interventional radiology area. Bone density and nuclear medicine capabilities will also be added to Weisberg.

These significant improvements will contribute to our healing environment for patients and create better workspaces for our hardworking staff members.
