A startup company has developed the first at-home human papillomavirus (HPV) test, now approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). John Wallbillich, M.D., gynecologic oncologist and member of the Gynecologic Oncology Multidisciplinary Team at Karmanos, said this test could provide more access to screening and explained why. He also suggested what needs to be in place with this new test to ensure patients who may have HPV-related cervical cancer begin treatments early.
