The esophagus connects the stomach to the throat and is another body area where cancer can develop. Wasif Saif, M.D., MBBS, medical oncologist, co-leader of the Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Oncology Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), and leader of the Phase I Clinical Trials MDT at Karmanos, explained treatments available to treat esophageal cancer, including targeted therapy and immunotherapy. He also highlights some lifestyle changes that may need to happen after being treated for esophageal cancer, rehabilitation and mental health for esophageal cancer survivors.
