Jeffrey Zonder, M.D., hematologist, leader of the Multiple Myeloma and Amyloidosis Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and member of the Hematology Oncology MDT at Karmanos, explained that multiple myeloma could be diagnosed earlier by identifying monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) in routine bloodwork. Once identified, this allows for observation, as many multiple myeloma cases stem from MGUS.
