Overview

Kidney cancer is among the ten most common cancers in both men and women. According to the American Cancer Society, the overall lifetime risk for men is 1 in 46; in women it is 1 in 80.

While surgery is often an option, radiation therapy is used for patients not eligible for surgery—such as those with a single kidney or poor surgical candidacy—and to alleviate symptoms like bleeding and pain.

Proton Therapy for Kidney Cancers

Why proton therapy?

During traditional radiation, X-rays pass through the body and can damage healthy tissue. Proton therapy delivers higher doses directly to the tumor and stops at a programmed depth, leaving virtually no exit dose and sparing surrounding organs.
