Physician Recruitment, Retention and Medical Residency

Ensuring top talent close to home

For more than 100 years, McLaren Northern Michigan clinicians have delivered superior medical care to our growing community and the thousands of annual visitors we serve. What makes our hospital truly special though are the clinical staff who ensure that our patients are getting the same level of care that they would expect for a member of their family.

Our providers are highly trained specialists who are board certified in various fields but they are also people with tremendous compassion and a commitment to our patients.

Growing this team to meet the needs of our community is a top priority for McLaren Northern Michigan. To do so, we’ve adopted a strategy that includes recruiting new talent and building our Primary Care Physicians by establishing a Family Practice Medical Residency program.

Demand for physicians and advanced practice providers is great due to a nationwide shortage as well as rising patient needs. This isn’t new to McLaren Northern Michigan. With donor support, we launched a physician recruitment program in 2016. Over the past four years, a number of new providers have joined our team, many from some of the nation’s leading medical centers. As a result, our hospital continues to offer state-of-the-art procedures and treatment options that are unique to a smaller community.

To assist these professionals in caring for their patients, we must provide a sophisticated array of diagnostic, imaging, surgical and critical care technologies and services. Yours gifts will help fund renovations, equipment purchases, and other start-up costs associated with establishing a medical practice in northern Michigan.

Your gift to the Recruitment Fund may provide:

  • In-depth experience for candidate visits and tours with existing medical staff
  • Relocation assistance
  • Student loan repayment assistance
  • Innovative marketing targeting candidates who will be a good fit for our area
  • Equipment and technology needs for various specialties including Neurology/Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Oncology, and others.

“I enjoy being able to spend time with patients both in the clinic and hospital setting. There’s no better feeling than knowing you are doing everything you can to care for someone.”
