A new federal grant will allow researchers at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine to conduct three studies investigating genetic cancer risks in African Americans. The research team is led by Ann Schwartz, Ph.D., principal investigator of the project, vice president and deputy director of Research and Academic Affairs at Karmanos, and professor and associate chair of Oncology at the WSU School of Medicine, and Jennifer Beebe-Dimmer, Ph.D., co-principal investigator, scientific director of the Epidemiology Research Core, leader of the Population Studies and Disparities Research Program at Karmanos, and professor of Oncology.
