What is the Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Planned Giving Society?

The Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Planned Giving Society honors friends who demonstrate their deep commitment to the organization’s legacy and future by including Karmanos Cancer Institute in their will, trust or estate plan. Gifts are recognized during a donor’s lifetime and can be in the form of a charitable bequest through a will or a trust arrangement.

How do I join?

We ask you to notify us that you are including Karmanos in your estate plan and that you would like to be member. There is no minimum gift amount to join and disclosure of the gift amount is not required. You may also choose to remain anonymous. Just complete and mail this form.

  • Your willingness to be listed as a member of the Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Society encourages others to follow your example and gives hope to our patients who may be waiting for the discovery of a new drug to cure their cancer.
  • Members are acknowledged in various publications including the Karmanos’ planned giving newsletter.
  • Members will receive invitations to Karmanos events and mailings about our current programs and cutting-edge research.

    Dr. Vee was one of Michigan’s leading oncologists, having spent more than 50 years as a physician in the Detroit community. As a leader, scientist, teacher and physician, Dr. Vee is considered the architect of Detroit’s cancer program, while his pioneering cancer research led to new global standards of care and treatment. He served as president of the Michigan Cancer Foundation and was the recipient of countless honors and awards for the strides he has made in the fight against cancer. Dr. Vee was a member of the Dr. Vee Legacy of Hope Society.

If you do not wish to receive future fundraising solicitations supporting the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, you can call 248-226-2163 or our toll free number 1-800-KARMANOS (1-800-527-6266) or email giving@karmanos.org and state that you do not want to receive fundraising or donor requests. There is no requirement that you agree to accept fundraising communication from us, and we will honor your request. In addition, we do not sell or share your personal information with other parties. Please allow up to three months to update our records accordingly.
