Dr. Chamiraju is privileged to say that he works for Karmanos Cancer Center where he takes care of patients with brain and spine tumors. He performs surgeries for brain tumors with advanced technologies including Laser Thermal Ablation for brain tumors with minimally invasive technology. Additionally, Dr. Chamiraju is part of the Gamma Knife team in treating metastatic tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, Meningioma, arteriovenous malformations, etc. He performs surgery for spine tumors including primary and metastatic tumors. Complex tumors needing spinal fusion after surgical resection are performed routinely at Karmanos. The team uses Carbon implants for spinal fusions when indicated, which helps in obtaining MRI scans with less artifact and in turn helps with precise radiation treatments. He also performs cerebral and spinal angiogram procedures for vascular brain and spinal tumors, which he treats with pre-operative embolization which is very helpful in reducing blood loss during surgeries.
