Cancer touches everyone, even those who help share our stories. Such is the case with WXYZ Channel 7 Morning Anchor Alicia Smith, who lost her father to pancreatic cancer in 2017. Now, her father-in-law is battling the same disease. He receives his care and treatment at Karmanos Cancer Institute under the expertise of world renowned Gastrointestinal Oncologist Philip Philip, M.D., Ph.D., F.R.C.P.

See Alicia Smith’s heartfelt Living a Better Life segment which raises awareness of pancreatic cancer, highlights the work of Dr. Philip, the research of Asfar Azmi, Ph.D., from Karmanos and Wayne State University, and Sheila Sky Kasselman from the Sky Foundation, a survivor herself whose foundation helped provide the seed funding for Dr. Azmi’s pancreatic cancer research.
