Happy Volunteer Week 2019!

Karmanos is celebrating Volunteer Week! This week and all year round, we celebrate the hard work that volunteers do each day for our patients and their families.

Many nonprofit organizations depend on the hard work and dedication of volunteers — Karmanos included.

“Our volunteers provide support to patients, visitors and staff throughout the Institute,” said Stacey Lincoln, volunteer coordinator at Karmanos.

However, it is not only patients who benefit from the volunteers. Through dedicating their time to the patients, the volunteers benefit from the experience too.

Karmanos Volunteer Zaire Johnson said volunteering helps teach everyone to show greater compassion because you may not know what others are going through.

"Volunteering at Karmanos allows you to welcome patients and make their visit a little more comforting," said Rebecca Grammatico, a Karmanos volunteer.

Karmanos is always looking for volunteers who want to have an impact on their local community. From helping patients navigate the clinic to fundraising events, Karmanos offers a number of ways in which people can volunteer.
