The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is the beneficiary of the 7th Annual 18 Aces to Conquer Cancer golf fundraising event, which was recently hosted by the Monroe Dodge Chrysler Jeep Superstore at the Country Club of Winter Haven, in Winter Haven, Florida. This event rotates between Michigan, Florida and Ohio each year since there are dealerships in each state.
The fundraiser attracted about 100 golfers and featured a morning and afternoon round, along with lunch and dinner. Every hole was a par 3 with the best ball scramble. It was an energetic, quick and unique round of golf for players of all skill level.
This year, the event raised $20,174 for pancreatic cancer research at Karmanos Cancer Institute. Owner of Monroe Dodge Chrysler Jeep Superstore Ralph Mahalak also met with Philip Philip, M.D., Ph.D., leader of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Multidisciplinary Team at Karmanos, to discuss the latest in pancreatic cancer research and to discuss future research.
We are looking forward to the event being back in Michigan next year on May 20, 2020 at Monroe Golf and Country Club. For more information, please contact Chelsea Pulice at pulicec@karmanos.org or 313-576-8112.
