Karmanos researcher to receive Wayne State University Academy of Scholars Junior Faculty Award

Congratulations to Asfar Azmi, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Oncology at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and Wayne State University School of Medicine, who has been selected for the Wayne State University Academy of Scholars Junior Faculty Award for the 2018-19 academic year.

This award is given annually on the basis of outstanding academic accomplishments to three or four junior faculty members at the assistant professor or non-tenured associate professor level in the natural sciences, engineering or medicine; the social sciences or law; and in the humanities or fine and performing arts.

The award carries a $1,000 honorarium to be used for the awardee’s academic research program, as well as a certificate.

Dr. Azmi will receive his award at the annual banquet of the Academy of Scholars in October.
