At Karmanos Cancer Institute, outstanding patient care is at the heart of everything we do, no matter the circumstances. As cases of COVID-19 continue to increase throughout the state of Michigan, we remain committed to your care. We know that cancer isn’t waiting for COVID-19 to pass and we will stand by your side at every step of your journey.
We have implemented many new safety measures in response to the pandemic. These include:
- Screening everyone who enters our facilities
- Separating patients with symptoms
- Testing patients before surgery
- Supporting social distancing
- Providing appropriate personal protective equipment
- Conducting additional sanitization
We thank you for adhering to the guidelines set forth to keep patients and staff safe. No doubt, these have been challenging for all affected and we acknowledge that many sacrifices have been made. While we look forward to a time when we can loosen restrictions, the current rise in COVID-19 cases means that we must be more diligent than ever.
We will continue to enforce safety measures and follow infection prevention guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). We are working closely with our federal, state and local partners to respond to this pandemic, update contingency plans and stay informed with the most up-to-date information.
We ask every member of our community to take the precautions necessary to keep themselves and others safe. This pandemic has been a challenging time for us as individuals and as a community but we must remember that it is not over.
