Community Partnerships

Community Partnerships (RAC)

The Research and Advocacy Consortium (RAC) is a growing collaborative of community partners, including faith-based, social service and public health organizations throughout 46 of Michigan’s 83 counties who partner with Karmanos Cancer Institute’s (KCI) Office of Cancer health Equity and Community Engagement (OCHECE) to improve cancer prevention and control in our catchment area.

The RAC represents the voice of the communities.  The RAC works with Karmanos Cancer Institute to:

  1. Support evidence-based interventions to improve cancer care outcomes.
  2. Inform diverse communities about clinical trials, cancer control, prevention, screening and treatment.
  3. Aid in the dissemination and implementation of research discoveries.
  4. Support cancer-relevant health practices and policy recommendations to address social determinants of cancer care.
